Quote of the Week

“I didn’t get into design to be an artist. To me, an artist creates things to evoke emotion. Being a designer goes a step further than that, not only trying to evoke emotion but trying to make a reaction. It is very objective-driven and that’s what makes it interesting.”

yeah. I like this quote I use to think this too. Why does there always seem to be a competition between art and design? What about design as art or art as design. I also think art installations could create the same response as design. Really I think they are equally valued. One is not better than the other to me.

I totally agree, one of the key reasons why i like this quote is because it highlights that you dont have to be good at art to be a good designer. An impression many universities give nowadays by having it as a required subject.

I also think its interesting about the subject being used in different situations. I think that sometimes a situation requires a certain form of appraoch. For example some products may be best suited to a more conceptual art appraoch over a more logical design methodology.
